When it comes to faith, we often feel overwhelmed by where we are compared to where we want to be. We look at others who seem to have mastered their Qur’an memorization, who attend every prayer in the masjid, who speak with such tranquility — and we wonder, “When will I ever get there?”
But the beauty of Islam lies not in perfection — it lies in progress. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are few.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)
Consistency is the quiet strength that builds transformation. The smallest act — a single dhikr said sincerely, one extra rak’ah prayed with presence, one verse recited with reflection — can become a door to immense mercy.
When we try to do everything at once, we often end up doing nothing. But when we take one steady step, trusting in Allah’s guidance, that step becomes the seed of lifelong change.
Allah says:
“And those who strive for Us — We will surely guide them to Our ways.” (Surah Al-Ankabut, 29:69)
He didn’t say those who are perfect — He said those who strive. Each effort counts. Each time you fight your laziness, control your anger, or forgive when it’s hard — it’s recorded with Him.
If you’re on your journey back to Allah, remember: it’s okay to move slowly. The important thing is that you’re moving. One prayer at a time. One word of Qur’an at a time. One breath of remembrance at a time.
And when you fall, don’t let guilt consume you. Get back up. Because your Rabb is Ar-Rahman — the Most Merciful — and He loves every effort you make for His sake.
So today, take one small step. And say: “Ya Allah, guide my heart to stay consistent.”
Because with every small act done sincerely, you’re building your path to Jannah — one step at a time.
